‘Delightful’ Chocolate & Gin Tours tempt the crowds at York’s Chocolate Story

More than 150 guests have already enjoyed our premium Chocolate & Gin Tours, just two months after they launched.

The adults-only experience, which takes place each Friday evening for 90 minutes, has been running at an impressive 83% average capacity, offering a deep dive into the rich histories and complex flavours of these exquisite treats.

Whether a chocolate connoisseur, gin enthusiast, or simply looking for a fresh, exciting experience in York, the new tour offers an interactive and sensory experience like no other. Visitors sample four premium gins, each expertly paired with a selection of chocolates, while our knowledgeable guides share fascinating tales behind both the chocolates and spirits.

The tour, which is a collaboration with the city’s hugely popular Hooting Owl Distillery, has already received rave reviews from guests, with praise for the blend of sweet treats, gin and fascinating facts, as well as for the character and knowledge of our guides.

“Our host was wonderful. Lots of gin to taste, chocs to eat and then we had a go at making our own chocolate bars. All whilst learning the story of York’s Chocolate Story. Fabulous evening all round,” one participant commented on Tripadvisor.

Throughout the tour, guests witness the magic of chocolate-making, as chocolatiers demonstrate how to create gin-infused chocolates. Visitors learn how the rich, complex notes of gin can be blended into decadent truffles, with tips on how to replicate these treats at home.

The experience then culminates in a hands-on session where guests can craft their own bespoke chocolate mendiants, using high-quality dark or milk chocolate and allowing their creativity to run free.
